Certainty and uncertainty are two opposite characteristics of the objects of aesthetic psychology. They are used to illustrate the opposition and uniform relation between the universality and the initiative of subjective feeling of object in aesthetic psychological activities. The certainty refers to the objective universality of artistic objects, while the uncertainty means that the content of art is specific and emotional and it also refers to the emotional and conceptual meaning experienced by aesthetic subjects through the content and forms. Because of the interaction between these two factors, art appreciation produces rich connotations.
