Injurious fighting refers to the fighting behaviors of the two parties trying to injure or even kill each other. Unlike ritualistic fighting, it is usually seen only among members of different species. For example, it occurs when two kinds of animals with equal strength compete for food sources or a powerful prey fights against predators. In the natural environment, it rarely occurs in the same species of animals; it only occasionally occurs among individuals in same species but different groups.
