贪食症是一种发作性的食量剧增。在短时间内(通常不超过两小时)，不能控制地吃进大量食物。病人尽可能掩盖自己的暴饮暴食，吞咽迅速并很少咀嚼，多是摄取热量高便于快速下咽的甜食；发作终止时感到身体不适，腹痛或恶心，自引呕吐或入睡；其后常感到心境抑郁和自责。贪食症多见于青年女性，肥胖者和体重正常的人皆有。

Bulimia is a kind of disease characterized by paroxysmal appetite soar. In a short time (usually less than two hours) the patients eat large quantities uncontrollably. The patients try to cover up their overeating and swallow food very quickly. The food intake is usually sweets of high calorie. The patients usually feel unfit or sick or have abdominal pain and would incline to vomit or sleep. Then they have a sense of depression and self-accusation. Bulimia is very common among the young female group, as well as the obese group and people of normal weight.
