英语语境:
External drive, as opposed to internal drive, refers to external stimuli, say, noise, heat and cold, that can stimulate behaviours. This term originated with American psychologists John Dollard and N. E. Miller. Inhibitionists point out that when individuals have bad motives as a consequence of facing internal pressure, external pressure and external drive, two inhibiting forces will produce resistance against such latent illegal behaviour and anomic mentality, and prevent individuals from committing crimes due to the pressure and urge from crime influence.
