Using the method of questionnaire and interview, this study examined the formation of children's conjunctive concept and the development of their metacognition. It is found that children's ability to form conjunctive concept developed gradually and inconsistently; that both metacognitive knowledge and metacognitive monitoring ability developed steadily; that significant correlations existed in all grades between metacognitive ability and the number of steps in forming conjunctive concept.
