The expert system has two functions i.e. finding out faults and judging the reasons for exceeding the standard, which includes professional knowledge and experience in wastewater treatment, sludge treatment, methane purification and application, odor treatment, electric and automation, physico-chemical analysis, security management and professional health. The expert system has been applied in several wastewater treatment plants and obtained good results, and it can provide technical support for wastewater treatment plants to take measures to meet the requirements of the Water Pollution Control Action Plan and the first-class A criteria specified in the national discharge standard.
