Previous studies found that the ball presented at a more distant position will be considered lager than that presented at a less distant position in the plane of the rendering 3D scene, though the full sizes of them are equal. FMRI research further found that the more distant ball activated the outer layer of the V1 on the primary visual cortex area, while the less distant ball activated the central part of V1. Furthermore, it was found that the size illusion will be affected by attention. Thus, such size perception may attribute to a top-down processing feedback mechanism of brain cortex.
