英语语境:

Self-affirmation theory is proposed on the premise that people are motivated to maintain the integrity of the self. Integrity can be depicted that on the whole the individual is good and well-suited. When self-integrity is under threat, the individual will affirm and threaten self-identity in other domains so as to receive threatening messages and protect self-integrity. Self-affirmation needs not to over distort or reexplain threatening messages, but instead to show more liberal and fairer attitude towards these messages.

Clarity is an important characteristic of self-concept. By use of self-confidence clarity questionaire, global self-confidence questionaire, as well as GHQ-20 as the tool, this study probes into the role of self-confidence level and self-confidence clarity in the predicting effect of self-confidence on mental health. Both self-confidence level and self-confidence clarity have striking predicting effects on mental health. Taken into consideration, clarity will disintegrate the regression effect of self-confidence level on GHQ-anxiety, depression, sense of adequacy. This shows that clarity is the moderating factor of the predicting effect of self-confidence.
