The man-land relationship in West Liaohe River Basin has been reconsidered through selection of settlement environment and sets the key district of ecologically fragile area, where the improvement of the environment is urgently needed, as the focus of the study. Based on research of three agricultural reclamation periods in West Liaohe River Basin since Holocene, it has been brought forward that the location of settlement environment can be classified as first choice and second choice. In terms of elevation and topography, sloping field of 400-600m contour is the first choice, while region outside 400-600m contour mostly belongs to the second choice.
