By means of rapid heating followed by water cooling, thermal shock experiments were conducted with copper-tungsten alloy to study the mechanical behavioral variations of the material after thermal shock. In addition, finite element method was employed to analyze distributions and variations of temperature and thermal stress of copper-tungsten alloy during thermal shock. Results showed that strength of copper-tungsten alloy decreased while ductility increased significantly after repeated thermal shock and the maximum thermal stress happened at the beginning of heating and cooling periods.
