The effects of different voltages are examined on maximal thermostable voltage of MOV. Results show that the thermostable voltage of recipe-system MOV is the highest when voltage grad ranges from 160V/mm to 170V/mm. Under 170V/mm grade, when the sample is loaded with the maximal thermostable voltage of 0.79U 1mA and lasts for 15 min, the surface temperature reaches the highest and keeps stable. When the loaded voltage is 0.80U 1mA, the surface temperature keeps rising and results in thermal runaway.
