A preliminary investigation was carried out concerning international dioxin pollution events, pollution sources and the extent of polution in China. Since 1960s, accidental pollution events of dioxins have been caused by human intentionally or unintentionally. In essence, the pollution was caused by massive synthesis of dioxins and dioxin-containing substances, accumulation and incineration of industrial, as well as medical and household wastes.
