In the process of one 12m/s stormy waves and after several days of weak waves, the vertical distribution of nutritive salt and suspended matters in a shoal area of Taihu Lake was observed and analyzed. The results indicate that the concentration of suspended solid in strong wind period is 10 times higher than that in light breeze period, and the concentration of total phosphorus is 3.6 times higher than that in light breeze period when the benthyal deposit is 20 cm.
