By using the optical absorption method, we studied the absorption spectral changes of the Nd, Cr:GSGG crystal grown by the CZ method, after it had been annealed in different atmospheres. The results indicated that after the Nd, Cr:GSGG crystal was annealed in the oxidized atmosphere, two absorption bands appeared at the 1μm segment due to the existence of Cr4 ions in the crystal. The bands are called 1μm absorption loss.
