In certain concentrations, both the comet rate and the comet tail increased with the increase of the concentration of the tested substances, and the dose response relationship was remarkable. When the concentration of SOF reached 1 mg/ml, the comet rate was 96 percentage and the length of comet tail was (109 5±10 2)μmol. The result showed that the direct-acting mutagens in soluble organic fraction (SOF) of diesel exhaust particulates could remarkably damage the DNA of cells.
