Non-profit organizations are involved in different fields widely, from art, charity, education, politics, religion, academy, environmental protection and so on. The operation of non-profit organization is not to generate profit, which is usually regarded as the main characteristics of this kind of organization. However, some experts believe that the main difference to distinguish the non-profit organization from enterprise is that non-profit organizations subject to legal or moral constraints, and can not be allocated to the owners or shareholders earnings. Therefore, in today's society, non-profit organizations are sometimes called the third sector, while government departments (first department) and the business community and private sector form the three main forces in society. Non-profit organization must generate revenue to provide the funds. However, their income and expenditure are limited. Therefore, non-profit organizations are often financed by the public and private sectors, and are often intax-exempt status. Private donations to non-profit organization can sometimes be tax deductible. Charity is a kind of non-profit organization and non-governmental organization (NGO) may also be non-profit organization.
