The Tibetan mastiff is the guard dog or shepherd living on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Due to the predominantly nomadic life of the Tibetan herdsmen, they must have the ability of living in extreme weather conditions, resisting hunger, tiredness and disease. Thus, apart from natural selection, the tibetans would conduct the artificial selection. When the young Tibetan mastiffs have enough teeth to bite, their masters will put them in a closed environment without food and water in order to adapt the mastiffs to the cruel environment and the last survivor is called the mastiff. Mastiff effect tells people that competition is the school of the strong. We live in an era of change, where challenges and opportunities coexist, the most significant feature of which is competition. Competition means new choices and new opportunities. Only by facing the challenge of the competition actively can we be strong.
