Based on Fan Qide's theory of "random objects”, we can provide a new explanation to Gongsun Long's Theory of White Horse. Words in ancient texts such as "horse”, "white horse” (so-called "classifying name” in Mo Jing) in some contexts refer to any related individuals. Gongsun Long is in this sense to say "it is right that a white horse is not a horse”. It is to say, in a special context, a random horse is not equivalent to a random white horse. This usage of "classifying name” has great significance in the philosophy of the schools of Ming and Mo.
