"The Strong Programme" is the metaphysical theory of sociology put forward by the Edinburgh School to study the social aspect of knowledge. Barry Barnes and David Bloor are the proponents of this School. They locate their programme with "the Relativist View of Knowledge", and criticize rationalism in the philosophy of science. One of their important standpoints is to oppose the logical rationality as a universal criterion of human reasonable acts.
