There are three major misunderstandings about natural selection in behavior research. They are: 1) humans'behaviors are determined by inheritance;2) the behaviors would be unchangeable if it was inherited through the process of evolution; and 3) the current mechanism is always the best design. Such kinds of misunderstanding will be disadvantageous to the application and development of the theory of natural selection. Actually these misunderstandings has something to do with determinism and teleology attached to the evolutionary theories. The discrepancy in the interpretation of the core concepts of natural selection is the main cause of this.
