英语语境:
The Book of History defines three virtues as three characteristics of the imperial rule. Righteousness is the first virtue that serves as the root of the ruling. Being tough and mild are the other two complementary virtues. In The Rite of Zhou, the three virtues receive a different interpretation. It refers to the virtue of perfection, intelligence and filial piety.
