The theory of the Three Sequences is an important component of Dong Zhongshu's philosophy of history. The three sequences consist of the Black, the White and the Red Sequence.The three follow one another and revolve in endless cycles, and along with this, human history circulates. When the emperor of a new dynasty comes to throne, he will change the beginning of the year.Besides, he will also assume a new title and change the color of the official clothings so as to follow the will of Heaven. But the fundamental principles（Way）comes from Heaven and remains steady anf wholly whatever the changes are.
