三值逻辑是20世纪20年代以来发展起来的一种非经典逻辑系统，蒯因对其持批评的态度。蒯因认为，有些三值逻辑系统建立在错误认识之上，有些所关注的问题可以在经典逻辑中得到解决，而有些三值逻辑系统的建立并不能解决其想解决的问题。蒯因所批评的仅是三值逻辑中违反排中律的部分系统，而非全部。

Quine takes a strongly critical attitude towards the three-valued logic, which is an important branch of non-classical logical systems.Firstly, Quine believes that some systems of three-valued logics are based on erroneous understandings of logical truth; Secondly, some issues of them can be solved by classical logical theory; finally certain content of three-valued logics can't solve the issues they originally aimed at. In fact, Quine criticizes only parts of three-valued logics which violate the Law of Excluded Middle.
