The purport of the chapter of Yi you tai ji (which literally means there is Tai Ji, the Grand Ultimate, in the Yi) in Xi ci zhuan is neither to interpret a concrete process of divination nor to establish a cosmological mode, but to interpret the origin of the eight trigrams. It can be seen that there is no direct relationship between the divination by Yi and the philosophy conceived in Yi.
