战国时代晚期墨家学派认为，人类知识通过书面或口语的形式代代相传。具体来讲，按照逻辑划分，知识分为三类，除了通过语言传播的知识外，另外两种获取知识的方式分别是推理和体验。前者指通过演绎推理，从已知内容中获取未知信息；后者指从个体经验或实践中获取知识的方法途径。
英语语境:
According to Moists of the later days of the Waring States period, knowledge which has been received through written or spoken words is called knowledge by transmission. Specifically, knowledge can be logically classified into three types, the other two being knowledge by inference and knowledge through personal experience. Knowledge by inference refers to knowledge obtained through deduction from what is known to what is unknown, while knowledge through personal experience refers obviously to knowledge obtained by one's own practice.
