圣所是古代以色列人祭献上帝的场所。设在圣殿内部，分内外两层。外层为一般的圣所，设奉香台、献饼台、七连灯台、常明灯等，只许祭司进入。内层为至圣所，置放“约柜”，用幕幔悬挂于门首，与外界隔离，惟大祭司在一年一度举行公众赎罪典礼时可以进入。

Sanctuary is the place for ancient Israelites to perform the ceremony of sacrifice to God. Sanctuary is usually located inside the Temple of God and is devided into two layers. The outer layer is the general sanctuary with intercalated platforms for incensing, offering breads, seven lights and altar lamp which burns day and night. Only the priest could enter. The inner layer is the holy of holies, where is placed the "ark of the covenant". Curtains hanging on the front of the door, it is isolated from the outside world. Only the high priest could enter when he held the annual public atonement ceremony.
