Tea Tao is a typical Japanese cultural phenomenon and is a good channel for foreigners to know better about Japan. Both tea and the tea culture was imported to Japan from China. The Japanese people combined Buddhism ideology of Zen with the tea culture and formed the Japanese Tea Tao. The essence of Tea Tao is the "Four Noble Truths", i.e. harmony, respect, purity and quietness. The Four Doctrines are the best summary of the ideology of Tea Tao.
