汉语语境:
晋语是目前唯一保留入声的北方方言。随着普通话的影响日益扩大和深入，晋语入声的特点在各个晋语方言中都发生着明显的变化，入声特征日渐消失。传统的方言研究方法已不能满足当前晋语的研究需要，学界目前正尝试从社会语言学的研究角度出发，结合语言变异的变项规则分析法探讨晋语入声研究的新思路。
英语语境:
Jin dialect is the only northern one which still reserves the entering tone in China now. Along with the influence of Mandarin, the characteristics of the entering tone change obviously in all the Jin dialect and it is vanishing gradually. Traditional research methods of dialect cannot satisfy the requirement of the study of Jin dialect. The studying fields now attempts to find a new approach, which can be called Variable Rule Analysis based on the theory of variation in sociolinguistics.
