对顶这一修辞现象是物质世界对立统一规律的客观反映，英、汉语中的实例表现出极大的相似性，其内部语义关系也完全一致；但由于各自不同的修辞格体系，英、汉语的辞格名称并不完全对应，它只与汉语辞格中的名称局部对应。
英语语境:
Oxymoron is an objective reflection of the law of unity of opposites in the physical world. The rhetorical instances in English bear great resemblance to those in Chinese, so display a striking consistence in terms of semantic relationships. Nevertheless, as they are in different systems of figures of speech, its names in English and Chinese do not fully correspond to each other, and oxymoron only partially corresponds to the Chinese figure of speech named "duiding".
