Dialogism refers to the presence and interaction of different voices in an utterance or discourse. The distinction between dialogic and monologic texts is a matter of degree which depends on the extent to which and the way in which the sender indicates the amount of attention he paid to the addressee and/or the presence of other voices. The study of dialogism has been largely confined in literature though in recent years discourse analysts have become increasingly interested in the study of the dialogism in other works.
