英语语境:
This study applies the lexicostastics method to quantitatively classify a group of Miao-Yao languages. The resultant classification is compared with those obtained from traditional methods and other computational methods. It confirms that the first 100 basic words proposed by Swadesh provide a valid basis for classifying Miao-Yao languages. The lexical distances between languages are described in the classification derived from the lexicostatistics analysis. It has been observed that words in different lexicostatistics in the same language registers different trends of changes.
