Since the pre-Qin dynasty, the Di-Qiang ethnic group of northwest China had been moving to south China.In the long history from the Qin dynasty to the Song dynasty, the members of this group experienced fusion and disintegration and finally divided into the Qiang branch, the Qi branch, the Burmese branch, the Jingpo branch as well as the disputable Bai branch and Tujia branch, all of which belonged to the Tibeto-Burman group in southwest China.
