The key to understanding context is to define what context is relative to. However, up to now, there is no clear-cut statement about this in the linguistic circle. J.R.Firth, systemic functional grammar, sociolinguistics, semantics, pragmatics and modern rhetoric have different views on this issue. Contextics points out that context is a concept based on the concrete procedures of expressing and understanding certain utterances.
