Oxymoron是西方修辞学里的术语，汉语一般译为“矛盾修辞法”。 陈望道先生在《修辞学发凡》一书中，将汉语中的这种现象归入“映衬”格中“反映”一类，似乎是不够精确的。在“映衬”格里，两个反义概念常为同一词类，表现出一定的对称性，或虽不属同一词类，在语法上也是相互独立的，不存在直接的修辞关系。

英语语境:

As a western rhetoric term, Oxymoron is generally translated as "maodunxiucifa" (literally means contradictory rhetoric). However, Mr Chen Wangdao in his book "Introduction of Rhetoric", points out that it is inappropriate to classify this phenomenon in Chinese into the class of "contrast". In "contrast", two antonymous concepts generally belong to the same parts of speech, showing a certain degree of symmetry. Even if some of them do not belong to the same parts of speech, they are independent of each other in grammar and there is no direct rhetoric relations between them.
