语境是指某一语言片断中各语言单位语义、语法、语用上相互关系的总和。言语表达中，语境和语义间具有相互依从、彼此制约的密不可分的关系。语境释义法指根据语境对词义的制约、显示作用来解释文献词义的原则。
英语语境:
Context refers to the semantic, sytactic and pragmatic relationships between linguistic units in an utterance.In expression, context and semantic have a close relationhip of interdependence and mutual constraint. Contextual definition refers to the principles in interpreting the meaning of words on the basis of the contraint and salience imposed by context.
