共同语和方言是主体和变体的关系，它们相对独立又相互影响。语言规范化的对象是共同语，规范方式分为建立和维护两个方面。共同语依据一定的规范标准建立起来之后，与方言之间会形成一个接口，共同语的语言成分会通过接口进入方言，反之亦然。
英语语境:
The standard language and its dialects are relatively independent, but affect each other. The target of language normalization is the standard language and the method lies in two aspects: establishment and protection. Established on certain criteria, the standard language shares an interface with its dialects. Through the interface, elements from the standard language enter its dialects and vice versa.
