“巴洛克”是1600年至1750年间在欧洲盛行的一种艺术风格，它的兴起与当时欧洲的宗教有着密切的联系。巴洛克就是在17至18世纪天主教会反宗教改革的浪潮中兴起的，它奢华、夸张的艺术特点可以满足当时天主教会的宗教目的。但是即使天主教对巴洛克艺术有巨大影响，也仍不能将“巴洛克艺术”等同于“耶稣会艺术”。

Baroque is a kind of art style which was widely spread in Europe during 1600 to 1750. Its rising was closely connected with the religion at that time. Baroque just raised during the Catholicism Reformation of the 17th century to 18th century. Its art characteristic which is extravagant and exaggerated could satisfy the religion purpose of Catholic Church. Although religion affected Baroque very much, Baroque art is not equal to the “Jesuit's art”.
