中国古代对滑稽的理解和观念里，滑稽包含了幽默这一概念；近代滑稽范畴虽然仍然与幽默有着很大联系，但主要却是与幽默相对的独立的范畴，它是由一个成熟的滑稽形态生发出的健全的范畴；古代滑稽具体包括“道”的滑稽、“境”的滑稽、“趣”的滑稽类型，其中“境”的滑稽与我们现在的幽默概念相近；滑稽形态到了明代的《西游记》出现了猪八戒的性格滑稽，即现代概念中的滑稽在明代的猪八戒形象中滑稽已获得此种美学范畴的基本特征，猪八戒的滑稽不仅是滑稽形态发展到高峰期的表现，也因为其具有潜在丰富的文化学意味而成为中国古代小说中不可忽视的现象。

During ancient time, the idea of comic consists of idea of humour, contrary to what it is in modern time which, to some extent, independently develop from mature form into a wholesome category, though has much to do with humour. Ancient comic consists of three types :Tao, Jing, Qu, of all types, Jing's Comic is most similar to idea of modern humor. Actually the mature form didn't form until Ming Dynasty when The Journey to the West appeared with ZhuBaJie's comic character, and in the comic character we can see all basic characteristics of Comic as an aesthetic category. ZhuBaJie's comic is not only the expression of mature time of comic form, but also an important phenomenon in Chinese Classic fiction for it's affluent in underlying taste of culture study.
