现代社会的启蒙批判思潮指控启蒙带来全面控制、建构理性本体、虚设进步神话、制造精英秩序。这些批判有其不容否定的合理性。但启蒙批判并不意味着启蒙运动的意义缺失。启蒙精神在今天仍然可以在广阔的层面上作合理性的解读。中国的启蒙没有完成，西方的反启蒙观念不应该用来作为否定中国启蒙意义的论证。

Enlightenment has been criticized by many thinkers for its resulting in total control, its identifying reason ontologically, its fabricating the myth of progress and its constructing order of hierarchy. The validity of those critiques is recognizable. But the value of movement of enlightenment is undeniable. And many elements of the spirit heritages of enlightenment are available today. The task of Chinese enlightenment has not been completed and views of western critiques of enlightenment should not be adopted to deny the significance of Chinese enlightenment.
