The concept is further deepened in the Song Dynasty. The core of "taste" consists in the early requirement of "morality" and the later worshipping of "primitive elegance", and some concepts gradually derives from this category, such as "flavor ", "delicacy", "hidden meaning" etc.

It is the common product of traditional Chinese philosophy and the poetry aesthetics. It contains rich cultural features, and meanwhile it has the unique aesthetic characteristics. But researches so far have focused on its aesthetic explanation without paying due attention to its cultural explanation.
