已酉(1309)仲秋之夜，帝(武宗海山)与诸嫔妃泛舟于禁苑太液池。当其月丽中大，彩云四合，帝乃开宴张乐，荐蜻翅之脯，进秋风之鲶，酌元霜之酒，啖华月之羔，令宫女柠罗彀，前为《八展舞》。舞女身着轻罗细彀长裾，系臂带，翩然起舞，向八方飘飞招展，故称八展之舞。
英语语境:
On the night of the Mid-autumn Day in 1309, Emperor Wuzong and his concubines boated on a lake in the royal garden. When the moon became full, and clouds drifted about, the emperor held a banquet for entertainment. He ordered to prepare food, drink and dance show. Fair maidens wearing arm bands danced gracefully in their long, silk dress. The arm bands extended into all directions, hence the name of the dance, all-direction extending dance.
