Zaju in the north predominated in the Yuan dynasty and the Yuanqu, together with the Tang and Sing poetry has become the three major forms in Chinese traditional art. Although the enthusiasm of writing north zaju has faded away in the early Ming dynasty, outstanding works still appear and equal the everlasting fame. Among the courtiers of Zhu i (the Yan king), Tang hunmin, Jia hongming, Yang ingxian, as well as Wang iyi, Liu ongsheng etc, all engaged in writing the north zaju and gained nationwide fame.
