In the years Jiajing of the Ming dynasty, the enemies invaded China's southeastern coast. Whenever the troop of Qi Jiguang went into Putian to repeled the enemies, Putian people were always beating drums to welcome them, celebrating the victory, and imitating the troop of Qi Jiguang to kill enemies. This gave birth to the original cart-drums.
