The operating experiences of a large hydrogen-cooling turbogenerator show that a conventional aluminum internal end cover is corroded easily, if moisture content of cooling-hydrogen in the turbofenerator is higher and there are gaps between fitting surfaces of the internal end cover to frame. The corrosion is very harmful to operating safety of a turbogenerator. The corrosion accident can be completely avoided by using GFRP internal end cover. In this paper, the corrosion appearances of the aluminium internal end cover and its reasons are described.
