As regards the dress worn by monks, the Tibetan Buddhists'frocks are mostly made of Pulu, which is referred to as "woolen broadcloth" in novels. The definition of the character Shu (“毹”) in "ZhengZiTong" (a Chinese dictionary in the Ming Dynasty) reads as follows: QuShu (“氍毹”), which is called Pulu (“氆氇”)today, prevails in the border area between Qin and Shu. It is a multicolour brocade with a similar texture of brownish coarse clothes. It has another name, i.e., woolen broadcloth.
