英语语境:
The Western social dancing breaks through the boundary between men and women in socializing. It contains the new idea that men and women are equal and social life is open. Thus, since its introduction into China, it had aroused the criticism and resistance from the conservatives who were bent on upholding traditional morals and ethical codes. In 1927, celebrities in Tianjin launched a campaign to ban social dancing, which manifested the civic attitudes towards this kind of dancing since its apperance in China.
