佛像的制作在很大程度上继承了古代印度的艺术方式，帔帛也随着佛像逐渐传入中亚地区和中国。最初的佛教图像上的人物多为半裸体，帔帛是他们身上非常显著的服饰，随着北魏时期佛像的中国化，帔帛逐渐退居次要地位。道教中的帔沿袭了中国古代的服装样式，与佛教的帔帛并不相同，也并非受波斯文化影响。

英语语境:

The craft of Buddha image imitates ancient India's art pattern to a great extent, and along with the spread of Buddhism, shawl was introduced into Central Asia and China. Most figures in the early Buddhism images were nude, and the shawl on their bodies was the most remarkable clothes. However, with the sinicization of the Buddhism images, the shawl was reduced to a secondary rank in the whole scene. The Pei worn by Taoist masters inherited clothes style of ancient Chinese, which was different from Kasdya of Buddhist monks, and not affected by Persian culture either.
