Virtual studio is a brand-new application of virtual reality technology in TV program production. Unlimited blue-box technique filters out the non-blue-box scenery in foreground video image by externally generated key signal; in this way, the motion of the camera is not limited by the size of the actual blue-box. An infinite blue-box algorithm for the virtual studio system is presented, which aims at the blue-box structures with arbitrary shapes and the camera's movement in arbitrary degree of freedom. According to the actual perspective projection transformation of the blue-box, this algorithm extracts the blue-box region and generates the color key signal.
