闽剧是福建的重要剧种之一，迄今已有四百余年的历史，它是在“儒林”、“平讲”、“江湖”等三个同属弋阳腔(高腔)系统声腔剧种融合衍化的基础上，又吸收徽调、京剧、昆曲、皮簧等变革发展的产物。庶民戏是中国戏曲史上目前存在的最原始的剧种之一，被视为我国古老戏剧的“活文物”，具有很高的研究价值。
英语语境:
Min opera, a major type of Fujian operas, enjoys a history of 400 old years. It evolved out of Yiyang Tune System which is the combination of three subsystems: Rulin, Pingjiang, and Jianghu, and improved on other operas like Hui opera, Peking opera, Kun opera, and Pihuang. Shumin opera, one of the oldest operas in existence in China, is a walking artefact that proves indispensable to opera research.
