There is a big difference between the national tabour and the western snare drum from western percussion instruments. The national tabour's tone is solid, but not crisp, with just a bouncing sound. The western snare drum's skin must be sheepskin, and there are several snares on the opposite of the drum which is not used for beating. It belongs to the double mask musical instruments, which has a clear and bright sound, and accompanied by the sound of rustling.
